Executive Producer
Jim Whelehan has taken several paths in his career and currently manages separate responsibilities in his work. Prior to Jim’s involvement in forming a new film production company, Sun-Spot Productions in February 2009, Jim has been working in the computer software industry for many years.
Before moving to Los Angeles in the early 1980’s, Jim was born and raised in New York, primarily in Smithtown, Long Island. Jim attended Georgia Tech for Electrical Engineering and moved to Los Angeles, settling in Burbank. After spending about 20 years in the Software Development arena, working for such companies as CSC, First Interstate Bank, Continental Airlines, EDS, and Coca-Cola, Jim moved into a Sales/Account Management role. He has worked for several large software companies in over the last 8 years, winning several awards along the way, including Worldwide Sales Rep of the Year in 2005 for Information Builders.
While software has always been Jim’s passion, he started steering his career towards the Film Industry accounts and began developing visions and solutions specific to the Media and Entertainment markets. To better broaden his knowledge for selling software to this vertical market, Jim began taking as many classes as he could at local networking organizations and working towards a certificate in Business and Management in the Entertainment Industry at UCLA. Jim is still working towards completion of his certificate. It is during this time at UCLA where Jim began building out his passion for the film industry and got involved in his first film project, “CONTINUITY”, while meeting others in his classes.
Jim is married to Andrea Giancoli, and has 2 children, Joshua and Jonathan, who both live in the Los Angeles area. Jim continues to work at his “day job”, working as District Manager for Informatica covering the Los Angeles Region, and works his “evening job” as CEO and Producer at Sun-Spot Productions, working nights and weekends.
